Woodland puffball

The 'Penny bun' mushroom. This one weighed about 300g. I found it growing under a beech tree in a secret location.

The same mushroom, an enormous Boletus

The autumn of 2004 has been fantastic for fungi, as they've thrived in the moist warmth, and there have been some magnificent specimens. This is the biggest boletus I've ever seen. It was growing under a beech tree in Broughton woods. I think it's Boletus aereus.

Fly agaric (Amanita muscaria), which I've read grow in association with birch trees, as this one was. It was seen in Broughton woods.
