Achillea 'Walter Funke' and Stipa calamagrostis.
I saw this arrangement in a magazine and this was exactly what I wanted to see. |
Alchimella mollis, Geranium sanguineum and Stachys byzantina
No idea where the Stachys came from, I think the birds must have brought it in. It goes quite well. |

Bidens 'Aurea'
The plants were very attractive to bees and hoverflies and buzzed with activity. |
Imperata cylindrica 'Rubra' and Stipa tenuissima
I was pleased with this combination. The Stipa is almost smoke-like in contrast with the stronger lines of the Imperata. |

Imperata cylindrica 'Rubra'
The red colour gets brighter as the summer goes by. |
The 'hot' bed at Normanby Hall, planted with Ricinus, Canna and Bidens 'Aurea' |

Chionodoxa forbesii 'Pink Giant' |
Cornus kousa 'Gold Star' flowers.
The flowers sit atop the stems and look like butterflies from a distance. |

Cornus kousa 'Gold Star' showing plant habit.
A lovely, graceful shrub - it needs an acid soil and wouldn't do well in my garden. |
Cornus kousa 'Gold Star' leaves and stem.
This plant lives at Bishop Burton College in Beverley. |
