Viburnum tinus 'Eve Price' in late autumn.

This shrub flowers in the cold winter months and is lightly scented.

Viburnum tinus 'Eve Price' flowers just starting to open.

Pulsatilla vulgaris seed head.

Attractive seed heads. The leaves get quite a bit bigger after flowering.

Iris reticulata 'Harmony'

A winter flowering iris. Only a few inches high, but very welcome colour.

I don't usually like Asters, but the blue tones and petal shape of this Aster amellus 'Blue King' is tempting me to plant it.

Sedum telephium 'Matrona'. This clump forming sedum has darker leaves than S. spectabile and the flower heads are not as showy. I prefer its more reserved appearance.

Hedera helix (ivy) on Boxing Day 2004. It was a very cold and crispy morning.

Chamomile growing in our garden. I bought the seeds as 'lawn chamomile,' but they weren't. Pretty, though.

Bees love Heleniums. I love them too, for their fiery colours. This is newly planted specimen and there should be a lot more flowers next year.

A green lacewing rests on Ipheion uniflorum 'Wisley Blue'.
