Bee on primrose flower. Taken in the spring of 2004 in Broughton woods.

Bee on hollyhock. Bees love these flowers and buzz round them all day long. They get completely covered in pollen.

Bee on Lavendula 'Papillon'.

This lavender often flowers twice a year and is very useful to bees as well as being attractive to us.

Butterflies on Buddleja.

2003 was a bumper year for butterflies.

Butterfly on Rudbeckia.

I love the fire colours of Rudbeckias.

Comma on Rudbeckia.

Red damselflies mating in spring.

Extraordinary acrobatics that these creatures perform!

Red damselfly larva hatching.

Every sunny morning would see them hatching out on grass stems poking out of the pond.
