Instructions for Windows users

First find out what size your screen is. You need to do this so that you know which wallpaper size is the best for your computer. You can find out what size is by following these steps:

Find the screen resolution

  1. Right click on your desktop.

  2. Select ‘Properties’.
A dialogue box will appear with several tabs at the top.

  3. Select the ‘Settings’ tab and you will see what your screen resolution is set at.

Unless you have a large monitor, it will probably be set to:

1024x768, or 800x600.

There is more than one way to set a picture as your desktop picture - it depends on how your machine is set up. Also, your machine may or may not want a particular type of file, for example name.bmp or name.jpg

The higher the numbers, the bigger the file size, so it may take a while for the image to open/download.

Method 1

Once you know your screen resolution, click on the appropriate image link to open the picture in your browser - note that a large file size may cause a delay.

When the picture has opened you can make the image your desktop wallpaper by right clicking it and selecting ‘Use image as’ | ‘Desktop background’.

Method 2

If that doesn't work, try the following after the image has opened in your browser:

  1. Right click on it and choose the option to ‘Save Picture As’.

  2. Save the image in an place you can find easily, such as My Documents, so you can find it later.

  3. Go to the main desktop (where the wallpaper is displayed when you have no windows open).

  4. Right click in a blank area of the desktop and select ‘Properties’.

  5. Select the ‘Desktop’ tab and then click on ‘Browse’ to find where you stored the calendar (for example, in the My documents folder)

  6. Once you have found the image name, double click on it, and then click ‘Apply’. The picture should now show. To ‘set’ this click on ‘OK’.

Instructions for Mac users

Find out how big your screen is:

  1. Click on the Apple menu, then select 'Control Panels > Monitors & Sound'. A window will appear telling you the resolution of your screen.

Get the image:

  1. Ctrl-click on the correct sized desktop-picture link above.

  2. Choose the option 'download link to disk' and save it to a place you will remember.

  3. Open the Appearance control panel (Desktop pictures) and select the Desktop tab (picture tab).

  4. Drag the image on top of the control panel and click the Set Desktop button.

  5. Click outside of pop-up to return.
