Ripening blackberries.

Taken in Broughton in 2003.

Blackthorn/sloe blossom.

All the hedgerows were a mass of flowers and the sloe harvest was very good.

Anemone nemorosa growing under beech trees.

These dainty little flowers carpet Broughton woods in spring, to be followed by bluebells.

Autumn bracken frond.

Common as muck, but autumn bracken with the sun shining through it is a lovely sight. As the colour washes out of the fronds, they become almost translucent.

Bracken frond in snow.

This bit of bracken was lying on top of the snow. Taken on a very cold day in Broughton woods during the winter of 2003/4.

Young bracken.

They curl out of the ground everywhere in spring. Then before you know it, they're over two meters high.

Bracken about to unfurl.

Nice heart shape.

Red bramble leaf in late autumn.

Frosty bramble leaf detail.

I liked the pattern the frost made on these leaves. Didn't see it anywhere else, just this spot.
